  Colloidal silica is a dispersion of silica nanoparticles in water or other liquids, the composition of colloidal silica is simple: nanoparticles and dispersants. Therefore, the performance indicators of colloidal silica are mainly as follows:
  1. Particle size. The particle size of colloidal silica is generally 5-150 nm, which can be subdivided into small size particle colloidal silica (˂ 10nm), large size particle colloidal silica (˃ 30 nm) and ordinary size particle colloidal silica.
  2. Solid content. Generally, it is measured by weight percentage, such as 20%, 30%, 40%, 50% and so on. HG/T2521-2008 stipulates that the content of silica is used to express the concentration of the product, and some companies also use the solid content of colloidal silica to express the concentration of the product.
  3. PH. Because the surface of the colloidal silica nanoparticles has a double layer structure, there is alkaline colloidal silica, neutral colloidal silica, and acid colloidal silica, which can be distinguished by pH.
  4. Viscosity. Colloidal silica is a liquid product, and its viscosity reflects the fluidity of colloidal silica.
  5. Metal impurity content. Ordinary colloidal silica is stable with Na+, HG/T2521-2008 stipulates that the Na2O content is used to express the Na+ concentration. In some applications that have high requirements on the purity of colloidal silica, such as catalyst carrier and electronic polishing, the content of metal components is often used to directly express the purity of colloidal silica. For example, colloidal silica for chip CMP may require the content of metal impurities to be less than 1 ppm.
